B.E./B.TECH.DEGREE MODEL EXAMINATIONS, NOV/DEC – 2011
REGULATIONS 2008
FIRST SEMESTER
GE2111 – ENGINEERING GRAPHICS
COMMON TO ALL BRANCHES

Time: Three Hours                               Date:   27.12.2011                              Maximum: 100 marks
ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS (5x20=100)

1) a) Draw the top view, front view and right side of the machine element as shown in figure.

OR
b) A fixed point is at 60mm from a fixed straight line. Draw the curve when eccentricity is 2/3. Name the curve. Draw the tangent and normal to the curve through a point P which is at 65mm from the straight line.
2) a)A line PQ 75mm long has its end P 20 mm above the HP and 25 mm in front of VP. The end Q is 50mm above HP and 60mm in front of VP. Draw the projections and find the inclination with HP and VP.
OR
b) A square ABCD of 50mm side has its corner A on the ground, its diagonal AC inclined at 30 to the HP and the diagonal BD inclined at 45o to the VP and parallel to the HP. Draw the projections.
 3) a)Draw the projections of a pentagonal pyramid of base side 25mm and axis height 60mm with a triangular face perpendicular to HP and VP.
OR
b)  A cylinder of diameter 35mm height 55mm is resting on the ground on one of  its generators. It is then tilted such that its axis makes an angle of 40o with VP. Draw its projections.
4) a) A vertical cone of diameter 50mm and axis height 70mm is cut by a plane perpendicular to VP, inclined at 50o to HP and  meets the axis at 20mm from the base. Draw the sectional plan, elevation and true shape of the section.
OR
b) A hexagonal prism of base 20mm and axis height 60mm is resting on the ground on its base with and edge parallel to VP. A circular hole of diameter 30mm is drilled centrally with the axis perpendicular to VP, bisecting and intersecting the axis of the prism at right angles. Draw the development of the lateral surface of the prism.
5) a) A pentagonal pyramid of base side 30mm and axis height 60mm rests with base on the ground with one of the base edges parallel to VP. It is cut by a horizontal plane at 30mm from the vertex. Draw the isometric view.
OR
b) A cube of side 30mm is resting on one of its faces, with the front vertical face in PP. The central plane is at 50mm to the left of the axis of the cube. The station points is 30mm in front of PP and 50mm above the GP. Draw the perspective view of the cube.
