1.       Why is hydraulic power especially useful when performing heavy work?
2.       List any four advantages of using the fluid power system.
3.       What is Viscosity Index?
4.       Write the classification of hydraulic motors.
5.       What is the function of a sequence valve?

 PART – B (5x8=40 marks)
1.       Briefly explain the important properties of hydraulic fluids.
2.       Differentiate between laminar and turbulent flow with examples and also write the equation and characteristics of Reynolds number.
3.       Explain the working principle of Unbalanced vane pump with neat sketch.
4.       Explain the working principle of External gear pump with neat sketch.
5.       With a neat sketch, explain the ‘End cushion’ provided in hydraulic cylinder.
